Shardad RohaniShardad has been overseas much of the past 2 years, conducting orchestras in many countries. His Bangkok performance was recorded for CD release and is an extravaganza of many popular pieces performed with a 90 piece orchestra. It was aired on TV all over the country. The CD consists of movie title hits.......Dances with Wolves, Shindler's List, Gone with the Wind, Out of Africa, etc. Shardad now has a new release through Serenity Label entitled "Cinema Passion" which is solo piano featuring romantic lead songs from Titanic, Forest Gump, Charade, Westside Story, Romeo and Juliet and 10 more! This is available on the Order Page on this website.. He has just received rave reviews for his recent European CD recordings of Tchaikovsky's music for ballet. And a recent work soon to be premiered in Prague is the musical Ecstasy. Shardad tells us that a sheet music book should be available for his album "Encore on Ivory"soon. He is currently working on a new album and promises to do a concert in the Los Angeles area after his tour. Shardad has been a music director and guest conductor for many prominent orchestras here in the U.S. and all over the world. During a conversation with Shardad, he said that he also has diplomas in percussion......and can play all the instruments, also plays the guitar and accordian. And, of course, we know of his wonderful talents playing the violin (with Karen Briggs in the Acropolis video) and the albums shown on his page here on this site are all piano albums. He said he also has considerable background in jazz. I had the considerable pleasure of recently meeting Shardad's lovely wife, Homa, and 2 beautiful children. Having been promised that they would try stop by my booth at the Beverly Hills Farmers Market sometime, I was attuned to be watchful. I saw a darling curley haired boy about 3, pensively staring at my Music Table where I was featuring Shardads music. He came running over, followed by his mother with a girl in a stroller. Suspectingly, I asked "are you related?" As the boy pointed to Shardad's picture saying "that's my daddy", his mother pointed to both children saying that they were his children. I smiled and said to her..... "Homa?" and she nodded yes. Shardad has a charming family and it was so enjoyable to meet and chat awhile. She is so proud, saying that she plays the music 'all the time'.......... well, no wonder, and so do I! It is so rich in sound, so elegant, so stirring to the emotions! Another pleasure was an unexpected visitor to the Music Stand the following weekend.....Shardad's younger brother, Shariar. There are 4 boys and 1 girl in Shardad's family and all 4 of the boys are accomplished musicians. In fact I have several of excellent works of an older brother, Anoushirvan. Ron Korb & Pat Clemence.......Ron Korb has been playing his flute in many motion picture and TV shows. He just finished "The Confession" starring Alec Baldwin and Ben Kingsley. Also did a John Woo film called "Blackjack", and several others plus a TV series.Ron Korb has completed a new album called "Celtic Heartland". Donald Quan who assisted in the production of Loreena McKennitt's "Book Of Secrets" album is producing the CD. In April, Ron and Donald went to England to record at Real World Studios in Bath as well as Ossin Studios in London. While at Real World Studios, Ron had the honour of meeting Peter Gabriel and drummer Steve Gadd. "Celtic Heartland" features members of Loreena's McKennitt's band such as Hugh Marsh, Rick Lazar, Steve Lucas, Brian Hughes as well as the British cellist Caroline Lavelle, uilleann piper Steafan Hannigan and Irish fiddler Teresa Heanue. September 1999 Ron visited England and France where he met Peter Gabriel again. Peter just finished music for the Millennium Dome south of London, where he will be performing New Years Eve. While in London, Ron stayed with Jim McCarty's (drummer for the Yardbirds band). They are making a new album with the former band members. For Ron's birthday, they arranged a party at a small 12th Century chateau overlooking the Luberon mountains in Provence....the place used to be occupied by the Knights of Templer. They had 3 other French instrumental composers at the party who will be on a compilation album with Ron called "Encounter in Provence". Ron also tells me that a video of his will be playing on "Celtic Heartland"

| Congratulations! to Gurn (David Kaniski), who was with Yanni for 10 years as the Lighting Director. He's had the honor of being awarded the prestigious "Lighting Designer of the Year" award at the Lighting Dimensions International convention in Las Vegas. This was for his magnificent artistry in the Taj Mahal and Forbidden City concerts this year. Many of us will miss the richness and finese of his talents in Yanni's concerts. We all remember the thrill of watching Live at the Acropolis on Video and PBS and appreciate the depth of artistry that Gurn added to the experience. Personal Interview Link |
